DOWNTOWN PORTLAND
Yup, there’s another Portland that’s in Oregon, but this one’s in Maine!
It’s a cute downtown, about 68,000 people. Fort Collins has about 168,000 to compare so, small to say the least and it’s the biggest town in Maine from what I could find. Lots of brick buildings and cobblestone streets. I think you’d really love it! I think you’d really enjoy all of the New England area. We’ll have to come some time! The streets are curved in and out of the whole town, all of New England is really like that. Ya know, paved streets over horse tracked paths before grid traffic systems. Take a GPS and listen closely! Or just end up turning around a few times because you missed the curved right turn that is actually straight but looks left.
There are arrows on the right and left of the pics below for you to scroll through!
BARD COFFEE
This is a cute little coffee shop that someone from one of the nearby stores told us to check out! Not the best vanilla latte I’ve had but cool vibe, cute place, with really nice and welcome staff.
Oh and the make their own vanilla syrup!
It was really cool, they have a Walk Up Window for ordering outside if you couldn’t go into the store - like if you had your dogs with you :).
There was also this really cool mural on a building close by, the last pic in the bunch. That’s Scott, Katie’s dad. I was out touring with him and her Mom, Cheryl one afternoon.
If you click on these pics they should get bigger.
CHEESE LOUISE
I love that this was there! I remember sending you a pic of the name ;)
A buddy of mine that I met on the slopes in February, Trevor, he’s from Massachusetts and told me I had to make sure I made it here. Now I know why, I got The Baconator and they really do have amazing grilled cheese sandwiches!
Their logo is really cute and I love their story too. Inside the restaurant they had these turn-table illustrations telling their story of where they started in 2018 with a road-tripping food truck to where they are now.
A reminder to me too that every story starts somewhere and it’s an adventure after that for where it ends but it can’t even begin if you don’t let there be a beginning.
I loved the inside of their restaurant too, filled with green plants, fun neon signs like “Sweet Dreams are made of Cheese,” and cheesy illustrations (pun intended)!
It was yummy, oh yeah and had a really delicious dipping sauce with crispy burnt like chips that added to the crunch of the sandwich itself! So a place with cool vibes inside, on a fun hoppin’ corner in downtown Portland, 10/10 would recommend!
